Vintage Palmetto

In November 1968, Dave and Babs Anderson, along with Warren and Diane Chard, discussed the idea of forming a PCA region here in South Carolina. After a month, the first organizational meeting was held at the Anderson home. Palmetto Region was born.

In March 1969, they had the necessary 15 members to file a petition for a charter. After several more months of work and planning, they were rewarded with the 76th charter granted by PCA. This was May 23, 1969. On July 19, 1969, the charter was formally presented by Dr. Leonard Turner. You can read more about our beginnings in our first newsletter from 1969. www.pcapalmetto.org/1969-newsletter

Several other names Roof, Chick, Turner, and Mathisen are included in a list of active members who joined in the early ‘70s and continue to contribute to leading Palmetto as we near the end of our fourth decade.
