The Palmetto Region’s 50th Anniversary Celebration (Sponsored by Porsche of Hilton Head), including social hour, dinner, door prizes, silent auction of many items of interest, and program with special guest speaker Alois Ruf will be held in historical old village Mt Pleasant at Alhambra Hall on April 27th.
We are looking forward to reuniting with our members of the past and present. The Palmetto region dates back to 1969 when Warren Chard successfully petitioned for the formation of the Palmetto region and Dr. Leonard Turner formally presented us the charter. More on how we all came to be back in 1969, can be found here in an excerpt from our first newsletter.
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Palmetto Region, events are planned for the weekend of 26-27 April 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina. Our headquarters hotel will be the Hilton Garden Inn in Mt. Pleasant, SC located at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. The region is hosting a welcome party at the hotel from 5:30 to 7 PM on April 26th
Saturday morning, 27 April, attendees will have the choice of a Walking Rallye of the Charleston Historic District or Gimmick Rallye and Blind Autocross (very) Low-Speed in Mt. Pleasant. Details will be provided prior to event. Awards will be given for all events.
Saturday evening will feature a Lowcountry inspired banquet by Relish Catering and chef Sean Wren with beef tenderloin and shrimp and grits serving stations, along with delicious grilled veggies, mac and cheese and a various array of desserts. There will be a full service cash bar accepting cash only. Each guest will receive one ticket for a free drink in their event goody bag along with several other gifts. This event will be held at Alhambra Hall on the waterfront overlooking Charleston Harbor in Mt. Pleasant with cocktail hour beginning at 5:30 PM.
In addition to event awards presentations and raffle drawings, the evening’s activities will include a presentation by our Guest Speaker, Herr Alois Ruf, the founder and owner of Ruf Automobile, GMBH and the creator of the famed Yellow Bird.
Additionally, we are expecting attendees from PCA National Headquarters and Porsche Cars of North America
As our event space is limited to a maximum of 144, early registration is suggested, and the registration deadline is April 12th.
Attendees will receive Goodie Bags. Commemorative Wine Glasses, one drink ticket and one raffle ticket for the door prizes. Dinner is business casual.

Alois Ruf
Alois Ruf is a legend in the world of unique, tuned Porsche automobiles. Founded in 1939 in Pfaffenhausen, Germany by his father Alois Ruf Sr, Ruf Automobile is officially recognized as a manufacturer by the German government. Hotel
Our host hotel will be the Hilton Garden Inn in Mt Pleasant. We have secured a group rate of $234 a night for the hotel, info on making the registration will be included in your registration email.
