Myrtle Beach/Georgetown Sunday Drive to McClellanville

Postby stolarzj » Thu Jun 04, 2009 7:22 pm

The next local Myrtle Beach Porsche event is a drive on Sunday, June 14th down to McClellanville. The MB folks will meet at 11:00 am at the Carolina Forest Piggly Wiggly for a drive to the Piggly Wiggly on Highmarket Street in Georgetown. The people who live further south (including some of our Porsche friends from Charleston we hope) will meet at the Georgetown Piggly Wiggly at 12:00 noon to join up with the MB folks. From there, we'll all take some nice back roads down to McClellanville for lunch at TW Grahams around 1:30. This was a really popular event last year because it combines a fun drive with good food and even better company! It should be a great day so mark your calendars and come on out!

Ok, I'm going to don my kevlar here and ask if a replica (356 Speedster, of course) would be welcome at some of your events. I have an '06 Beck (tube frame) that I liken to a go-cart with leather upholstery. It's a blast to drive and (at least I think) very nice looking, but no, it's not a real Porsche.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Your definitely welcome, we don't mind replicas, they are Porsche's in spirit.. Please feel free to come out to the drive this weekend or any event really. We also have our 40th anniversary event coming up this month that you are welcome to attend. The registration deadline is quickly approaching for sign up to that though, but there is still time and room for you.

By the way, your car looks great, I would love to have one of those...

Thanks, Josh. I may try to make this weekend event. My wife and I are planning a rafting trip on the Cheoah for the weekend of the 40th anniversary gathering, but that is subject to change. Do you guys have any regular gatherings? I saw something about breakfast in West Ashley on Saturdays, but that was from 2007.

EDIT: Oh yeah - How do I set up an avatar on this forum?

We usually have a monthly 2nd Tuesday meeting at various locations, usually restaurants. We also have the weekly breakfast in West Ashley at 8am, there are usually a pretty good crowd that shows up for breakfast. Take a look at our calendar, we are always posting new things. The next big event would be the Tail of The Dragon trip in September.

Now that was a fun ride! Thanks for letting me tag along. It was interesting to find out that the little Speedster was reassuringly smooth and stable at 90  .

I'll see you guys at an upcoming breakfast meeting.
